Keep your fingers crossed

Posted by Martin on March 27, 2010

Some good news this week from Calpe Towers but don’t get too over-excited yet.

Peter F. travelled to Newark where the new vulcanizer was being built to carry out some mould-making tests. The results of these first tests are promising with the vulcanizer performing better than hoped or expected. But a note of caution still needs to be sounded because the mould can (the metal container in which the two layers of the rubber mould and the master figures are placed for vulcanization had been made a little inaccurately so rubber oozed out and caused the master figures to move around in the mould.

This, though, should be a relatively easy matter to fix with a new, more accurate mould can turned on the lathe. The next step is for the vulcanizer to be installed at Calpe Towers and further test moulds to be made. The current plan is to do that next week.

We’re not out of the woods yet but things are definitely heading in the right direction.
