Painting and modelling 28mm Napoleonic wargaming miniatures

Historical miniature showdown

Posted by Martin on March 9, 2009

I picked up on this in a couple of places over the weekend, but today saw the official announcement on the Osprey Publishing blog.

The rules seem a little idiosyncratic, the timeframe in which the miniatures have to have been released is a little ambiguous and there’s no stated closing date for entries. But I suppose an e-mail to Osprey at auction@ospreypublishing.com can clarify all those things. I’m also slightly disturbed by the graphic at the top of the posting that mentions several figure manufacturers by name but none of them are acknowledged leaders in the Napoleonic period. I think that’s slightly unfair.

Regardless of my reservations, this could prove to be interesting, very interesting…

  1. I find it interesting that Osprey even go down this route.

The voting has the possibility of becoming a bit of an unholy mess with people voting multiple times using a variety of ids for a favoured manufacturer rather than for the better model. Hmmm, that’s a game I could play!!! 8O) But seriously, I have witnessed online voting going badly wrong and leaving bad tastes in many mouths. Why people do this is a bit sad, but they do. I hope Osprey are careful.
