Befreiungskriege 1813-14

Painting and modelling 28mm Napoleonic wargaming miniatures

Andrea Miniatures 30mm figures

Posted by Martin on June 28, 2007

Maybe I’m late to the party on this but Andrea Miniatures has a newish line of figures called the “Napoleonic Wars in 30mm”. Now the first ten or so French infantry figures in the range are stiff toy soldier-ish poses and don’t interest me at all. But they’ve recently added some mounted figures and these look a different kettle of fish.

There’s four French hussar figures and a mounted Napoleon. They all appear to be mounted on the same horse pose, which is a little disappointing. But, judging from the photos on the Andrea Web site, that pose is a real goodie. Then, I’ve said before how much of a sucker I am for a good standing horse pose. I reckon the pick of the bunch are the Napoleon and the hussar trumpeter.

But now for the shocker: these babies are ten Euros a piece (plus P&P and VAT). And they come as up to nine parts that need assembly. That puts the prices we wargamers pay for figures from the likes of Calpe, Foundry, Front Rank, Perry etc in perspective, doesn’t it? These Andrea figures will have to be exceptional sculpts to justify the price.
